Calathea roseopicta 'Medallion'
Calathea's leaves are w work of art. If you like to fuss just a little bit about your plants and like a slight challenge, Calatheas are worth the effort. They like medium or bright INDIRECT light and higher humidity. They also do not appreciate any chemicals or salts in their water (like flouride, chlorine or Salt) so rain water or distilled water would be the best. (Rain water is always the best) City water or water from the house that goes through a water softener will likely cause brown edges to form on the leaves. They really need a higher humidity which can be improved with a humidifier, near a bathroom or kitchen, in a large grouping of plants or by putting them on a pebble tray filled with water that evaporates. They also like regular fertilizing in the growing season. They are PET FRIENDLY houseplants! THese are harder to find and have recently become very popular in the houseplant collector world. 6" pots of nice healthy plants.
