Rhoeo discolor tricolor - Moses in the Cradle, Oyster Plant
This colorful plant has alot of names Rhoeo discolor tricolor, Tradescantia spathacea tricolor, Moses in the Cradle, Oyster Plant and Boat Lily.
It gets its several names from its small white flowers surrounded byupright colored leaves, called bracts, which make the "boat" or "oyster shell." Growing as a dense, slowly enlarging clump, It is actually a tender sub succulent with three-toned leaves of pink, green, and cream shades. The leaves also have pinkish purple undersides. It may look dainty but it is tough and is usually not problematic.. It needs bright or medium indirect light in the house in good draining soil. Let potting mix dry between waterings and then water thoroughly. If your plant takes a vacation outside it would be great in the shade along with plants that like the same conditions...begonias, coleus and other tradescantia varieties like wandering "dude".
This is a new one for us...we have grown alot of tradescantia tho and we think this one will be a great addition. Planted in 5" nursery pots. Available for immediate scheduled pick up.
